Not a good training session
It was not a good training session for Pebbles yesterday. Mum felt pretty guilty as she hasn’t been able to give Pebbles the attention she’s needed in the last week and it has really shown. Pebbles would not concentrate. She was happy to commando crawl her way around the field but was not so keen to work on any obedience training. At the start of the lesson she was dreadful, but little by little she got some of her concentration back and was doing a little better by the end.
Stop
At one point, the other dogs went to walk along the side of the main road next to traffic, but Mum said that Pebbles wasn’t ready for that. Instead they stayed in the field and Mum did lots of loose lead walking with Pebbles and at intervals said ‘stop’. At those times, Pebbles had to stop immediately and plonk her bottom straight on the ground. Mum said it was as thought that exercise made Pebbles remember why she was there and begin to work.
Shetland Sheepdog
There was a beautiful little Shetland Sheepdog in the class for the first time. Toby is only 20 weeks old but apparently was doing much better than Pebbles. Pebbles ought to be embarrassed by that, but of course – she isn’t.
Must try harder
Mum has promised to try much harder with Pebbles over the forthcoming week, to get her back into a routine and some good practices. Maybe she can redeem herself next week.
We’re off to the vet this morning. I’ve got my injection for my arthritis, but I want to talk to the vet about my back too. Mum wants to talk about my dementia, but I don’t really notice that in the same way. Pebbles is coming along so she can weigh herself. She thinks she has lost weight, but Mum thinks she has just got taller and spread the same amount of weight out over a larger area.
