Pebbles loves her duck – Friday 26th December 2025

Pebbles loves her duck

Pebbles loves her duck. I definitely chose the right present for her. Duck has been added to the group of special soft toys with Sloth, Hoppig and Moose. He immediately had the honour of being carried outside to see the garden with her. Then she ran around the house carrying him everywhere.

Unfortunately Pebbles was less keen on Mum’s red striped trousers and went a little crazy for a while. She seems to have accepted them but you never quite know with Pebbles.

Smoked salmon and scrambled egg

We heard from Cinders to say she was tucking into smoked salmon and scrambled egg for her Christmas breakfast. I felt very disappointed. That is what Dad was having for Christmas breakfast but we didn’t so much as get to lick the plate. I think Mum needs to try harder next year.

It was all a bit difficult actually. Because Dad had travelled to the US and Ireland before coming home, he was quarantining from Mum for five days. He came out of quarantine yesterday morning and it was the first time I’d seen him. Mum has been trying to tell herself that she is just imagining my dementia and there must still be something she can do. Sadly, I didn’t really recognise Dad. I just totally ignored him. Obviously I didn’t bark at him like he was a stranger, but I didn’t get excited either. He was a bit upset and so was Mum.

The rest of the day

The rest of the day improved and Dad and I did have a nice cuddle later on. I’m glad he doesn’t have to go away again for a long time. I think I need him here with me all the time. It’s his birthday today so I’m planning to give him lots of love to make up for yesterday.

Love and licks
