My season has started – Monday 17th August 2026

My season has started

After a wait of over 57 weeks, my season has started. Mum says my timing is impeccable, but I don’t know what she means. It’s all really weird. Mum is making me wear pants and I don’t like them. My body feels strange and I don’t really know what to do with myself. The worst part is that I’m going into kennels on Wednesday so Mum had to ring them to check it would still be ok. They said it’s fine. Mum says that’s the least of our worries at the moment, but it’s all very important to me.

Wilma is very sick

The real problem is Wilma. She is really sick. She caught the virus I had and is still sick with that, but the real problem is much worse. She cannot keep her blood sugar level up and it keeps dropping to dangerous levels. To begin with we thought it might be not eating, but now she is eating it is still bad. She’s on a drip and having glucose every hour intravenously. As soon as she is off the drip then it drops again. She can’t come home as she would risk a seizure pretty quickly.

Mum and Dad went to visit her yesterday and they were really upset when they came home.

More tests

Today Wilma will have a blood test for something called an insulinoma. It’s going to take a few days to get the results and she’s going to have to stay in hospital the whole time. The blood test might be conclusive, but if not she has to have a CT scan. It is all very hard for her.

Anyway, the reason I’m going into kennels is because Mum and Dad were going on holiday on Thursday. Now Mum has to stay here to be near Wilma so can’t go. Dad is still going. I’ll explain why another day. But Mum said I could still go to kennels so she can devote her attention to Wilma.
