A dog with nine lives

Wilma may just be a dog with nine lives. You wouldn’t believe what life has been like here. The vet thought it was an insulinoma as nothing else matched her symptoms. Then last night, after Mum and Dad went to see her, she turned a corner. To the vet’s surprise and delight she started to maintain her glucose levels. Mum went to see her yesterday morning and she is so much brighter.

Now Mum is waiting to hear how she is this morning. If she has maintained her glucose levels then they may be able to start planning for Wilma to come home.

What Wilma needs

What Wilma needs is quiet and rest. Mum has said that until I go to kennels tomorrow it is probably better for Wilma to be cared for by the vet. Wilma is exhausted and gets tired even walking a few yards. I guess it will take a while before she builds her strength again. The vet still thinks it is too early to say she is going to be all right. She may have a relapse or still have bigger problems. The problem is that so far the vet has no idea what has caused the problem, but everyone is rooting for her.

The reason I’m going to kennels is because Mum and Dad were going on holiday. It was all rather a special holiday, but I think Wilma wanted to tell you about it so I won’t. Anyway, Dad is going on his own now as Mum will stay at home with Wilma. Mum is really upset to miss the trip, but is so happy that we aren’t going to lose Wilma that she really doesn’t mind missing out at all.

Quite a week

It really has been quite a week and Mum and Dad have been so worried. I guess I was worried too, but to be honest with my hormones being all over the place I feel a bit confused anyway. I do not like coming into season. For one thing, I cannot get used to wearing pants in the house. And for another, Mum says all my bedding is being washed again and it was only done a week ago when I was ill.
