My birthday Party – Sunday 4th October 2026

My Birthday Party

Mum has been arranging my birthday party for later this month. Only my sisters can come this year, so we’ll be having a girly day. Mind you, if Raya and Freya are anything like me it could be just as boisterous as if our brothers could come. I heard Mum sorting out that’s she’s cooking pizzas, so I asked for a meaty one, but apparently they are just for the humans. I don’t think she’s even planning to bake a cake for us dogs.

Anyway, I’m excited. It’s on the Sunday before our actual birthday, but that’s ok. I’m going on a group walk the day after my birthday too, so that should be good fun. Quite honestly, it is amazing to think I’ll be two years old this month. In our breed terms that makes me an adult, but I really don’t feel like one.

Beyond the Breed

Next weekend I’m going on a whole weekend course called Beyond the Breed. It’s all about the different character types which have been identified within the world of wolves and dog packs. It’s a bit like the personality testing which is done for humans, but for dogs. Apparently, we all broadly fall into a number of different personality types and they aren’t necessarily related directly to our breed. Some breeds are more likely to come under some types than others, but even within a breed you get quite a range of personalities. Mum says she only has to look at all of the dogs she’s lived with to see that.

How I interact with other dogs and humans will be assessed. From what Mum has read she is expecting me to be an ‘overseer’ type, which is like a quality controller. If she’s right then our job is to test to make sure that everyone around us is up to their jobs and basically keep testing them to breaking point. Mum says it explains a lot about me!

I’m not sure I’m exactly excited about the course, as I’m a little apprehensive too. However, both Mum and I think it might be quite helpful. Paws crossed.
