Daventry Country Park – Sunday 8th November 2026

Daventry Country Park

Watch out Daventry Country Park – here I come. Ok, so it will be a few hours before I’m there, but I’m ready to go. I’ve made sure Mum has packed some cheese, cheese spread, pate, kibble, sardines – all the little essentials I might need for my walk. Recently, I’ve been doing quite a bit better – from Mum’s perspective – at not needing treats every few steps of a walk. Frankly, I see the withdrawal of treats as a retrograde step, but there’s not a lot I can do. Today, I suspect I’ll be too busy being excited to remember to ask for treats every five steps.

I do commando crawl when I’m really excited. I wonder how far I can go on the walk by crawling round. When I’m really happy to be in the garden room with Mum and Dad I take time out between cuddles to commando crawl back and forth across the rug. Dad thinks we should keep a camera set up to capture ‘Pebbles at home’. He’s under the impression none of you would really believe some of the things I do. I said, you all know me pretty well by now, so you probably wouldn’t be that surprised.

Post walk lunch

I presume I’m included in the post walk lunch. Mum says that as she doesn’t know what time we will get home she’s planning bacon sandwiches. I’m happy with that, although she can skip the ketchup on mine. Come to that, I am not so keen on the bread either. I’ll just have the bacon. After all, if I’m not allowed a string of endless treats while I’m walking, I’m going to be hungry afterwards, so it seems reasonable.

On the subject of my food – Mum changed me onto a food that scored more highly in reviews by humans. I didn’t seem overly keen so she said she would give me the choice. She put a little of the new food down and a little of my old food. I immediately ate the old food first. Then I didn’t go straight to the new food, but looked up at her to check if I could possibly have some more of the old one. Only when she shook her head did I bother to eat the new food. Here’s the good news folks. I won. I’m going back onto the one I really liked, but I have to eat the rest of the new one first.
