Bar snack tester
Dad has been given the official role of bar snack tester. I should be offended. Food tester is one of my key strengths. Frankly, the maple pork scratchings did sound rather nice too – if a little fattening.I leave a lot less mess than Dad and always lick the plate clean. To be fair, Dad would happily lick the plate clean too, but Mum tells him that’s not appropriate behaviour. He did it in a restaurant once, when they were young, just to wind Mum up. It worked. Oddly, Mum seems to expect behaviours like that of me.
A quiet walk
When I say I had a quiet walk yesterday, it wasn’t anywhere different to normal and there are never many people around. The way it was quiet was rather closer to home. For the first time in a long time I didn’t feel so much need to tell the world I was there. I just skipped along happily with Mum by my side. I let her do most of the talking for a change and just listened as a good dog should.
Mum was pleased to find they’d cut the long grass by the side of the road. I’d been enjoying trying to stray into it as we walked. Mum’s main concern was all the grass seeds that attached themselves to my fur while I was there.
Twiddling my paws
This morning I shall mostly be twiddling my paws. Mum is taking granny out for coffee and that doesn’t include me. I know it’s my own fault, but it does mean I’ve got one of those mornings of just waiting for Mum to come back to me. Yes, I know she always does, but it would be better if she didn’t go in the first place.
