Forty-five minutes
You may wonder what it was that took forty-five minutes. Maybe you’ve guessed. It took forty-five minutes of her dog training class yesterday before Pebbles got completely bored. You cannot believe how happy Mum was when they came home. That is so much longer than she has been managing. What’s more, for those forty-five minutes, for the most part, Pebbles was actually doing the things she was supposed to do. Ok, so she still wanted to flirt with both Ernie and Dexter, but a girl can’t help things like that.
Loose lead walking
The loose lead walking side of things still needs some (a lot) of work. At one point, having seen one of her friends on the other side of the field, Pebbles did attempt to dislocate Mum’s arm. However, she managed a stay – or several. She even managed when Mum broke eye contact with her. She was happy to hold all her positions – sit, down, stand – whilst on a special box. She put her paws up on a wobble cushion when asked. Playing with the toy was harder. That is the sort of thing which causes her excitement levels to rise and she then forgets herself.
Not jumping up
One of their exercises was not jumping up when meeting someone. Pebbles has learnt the ‘find it’ game of looking for treats on the floor so, to the surprise of the instructor, she got that one completely right. Mum explained that the real problem came when you weren’t looking and she body slammed you from behind – that one still needs some work.
Eye check up
Today I’m off to see the specialist for my eye check up. I think he’s going to say that everything has healed well and that I just need to keep doing the same things. I’m going to ask him about my vision but I’m guessing that isn’t going to improve from what it is now. I have to learn to accept it, but I’m not finding that easy.
