Bouncing back
Well, Pebbles came bouncing back to health yesterday and promptly asked to catch up on all the meals she’d missed. Mum said she should take things slowly, just in case. Pebbles never takes things slowly. She was ravenous and said she was completely better. She was soon happily chewing on one of the Kongs that Mum had prepared. The combination of honey yoghurt and tinned special gastrointestinal dog food has proved a real hit with both of us. Mum has found 15 tins of the food in the cupboard so she won’t have to buy any of that for a while. She’s mixing it half and half with the yoghurt, so one tin makes up quite a few Kongs. The great thing is that because my weight is so much lower she says it’s ok for me to have them every so often too.
Mantrailing
Pebbles came in all excited to see Mum and say there were some new dates for the mantrailing course she wants to go on. Mum dutifully checked her diary and found they could make it. Everything was looking good until Mum came to the ‘terms and conditions’. She had wondered if Pebbles’ inability to follow orders when distracted was going to be a problem, but it turned out that Mum’s knees are the obstacle. She needed to be able to cope with steep and rough ground – and she can’t. Oh you should have seen Pebbles’ disappointed little face when Mum had to break it to her that she wouldn’t be going. Mum has promised to try to find an activity that they can both do.
Rose garden
I do wish Aristotle was here to see the rose garden this year. When we moved here, he directed operations as Mum and Dad planted up a rose garden. The last couple of years the weather and ground conditions have meant they haven’t done very well. This year, for the first time they are beautiful. Even we dogs benefit as the smell is wonderful.
