An eventful week – Thursday 18th September 2025

An eventful week

Pebbles really is making this an eventful week. You would think after eating elastic and being made sick by the vet, that Pebbles would be being careful. You’d think! The following day, she found one of the conkers that Mum has to discourage spiders. She decided to try to eat that. You’ve guessed. Conkers are toxic to dogs. She bit it in half and Mum began to panic.

Fortunately, one of them had learnt from the previous day’s experience. Mum had learnt not to say ‘no’ to Pebbles. If you do that, she promptly does the thing you don’t want. Mum got the cheese and sprinkled some on the floor. Thank goodness for cheese. Pebbles dropped the conker and went to round up the cheese. I’ve never seen Mum move as fast as she did to retrieve and dispose of the conker!

DNA test

It hasn’t been all bad with Pebbles this week. Mum managed to hold her still for long enough to do the DNA swab she needed to do. That was no small achievement. There were two swabs and the first one was a lot easier than the second one. By the second Pebbles knew what was coming and was less cooperative.

The other bright point in Pebbles’ week was her training lesson. She actually managed to pay attention for the whole hour. That is a first. Even her classmates commented on how well she’d done. She didn’t do everything right, so she’s not ready to claim a ‘goody 4 paws’ badge just yet, but it is a start. Mum won’t be putting her in for any of her exams just yet, but finally there is hope that one day she might get as far as at least her bronze exam.

I’m off to hydrotherapy this afternoon, but I’ll tell you all my news tomorrow.

Love and licks
