Leaking roof – Tuesday 13th January 2026

Leaking roof

Mum’s shed has a leaking roof. One of us needs to help her fix it. Of the four of us, two of us are not good with ladders – three of us if you include Mum. Pebbles says she can jump as high as the roof, but that is always followed by landing back on the ground, so that won’t really help. Mum has already tried to repair the covering for the roof once and has clearly failed. Now she thinks she is going to have to take the whole covering off and start again. She is going to look at it with Dad to see if he has any bright ideas. Dad however is not keen on cold weather, so will want to wait until spring. Somehow the roof needs fixing now before more things inside the shed go mouldy.

Frazzled

I’m expecting Mum to come home looking frazzled later on this morning. Today is Pebbles’ first time back to dog training since she broke up before Christmas. She’s so excited about seeing her friends and Mum knows it’s going to be a morning of Pebbles doing commando crawl through the mud wanting to play with them all. What Mum is not expecting is for Pebbles to show any enthusiasm for working. Maybe Mum needs to just let this week wash over her and hope that Pebbles will take things a bit more seriously from next week. To be on the safe side, Mum has gone armed with a lot of cheese and some sardines. It’s going to be bribery all the way!

Teenage

Sometime quite soon Pebbles will become a teenager. For a normal dog, that means six months of them pretending they have learnt nothing and being very hard work. What we don’t know is what it will mean for a dog who has that as their everyday state. It seems hard to believe that Pebbles could actually regress further. On the bright side, we are all hoping that once we get through her teenage phase there might be a slim possibility of some improvement in her behaviour. We can dream.

Love and licks
