I cannot stay
It doesn’t matter how many times Mum asks, I cannot stay. When I’m concentrating I can do quite a lot of my training class exercises, but not stay. I just wish they’d stop asking. It is way too hard.
Yesterday, I didn’t really want to concentrate at the start. I’ve not slept very well the last few nights and I didn’t feel like listening. Instead, I commando crawled around the field so I could say hello to each of my friends. Mum thought I’d finished, but then I spotted Maisie and suddenly pulled Mum over to see her.
New dog
There was a new dog there with the trainer. I only went up to say hello and welcome. Ok, Mum says I might have bounced over, but I didn’t do anything very wrong. The dog growled at me. I’m not very good at understanding what things like that mean so I simply carried on. Mum had to pull me away as he snapped at me. We were both fine and I still don’t understand what I was supposed to do.
When we did our first off-lead exercise I took the opportunity to run back over to him to see if we could try again. Mum said I shouldn’t have done that. It didn’t go well.
Middle
The other dogs went out to do road walking for ten minutes part way through. I didn’t have to do that bit so worked with Mum. It was funny, working quietly with Mum during that time helped me to settle down and concentrate for the rest of the lesson. We did an exercise where we had to get into the car in a controlled manner and I did it right. Mum was really proud of me. We have spent ages working on that because I used to find it really hard.
Then at the end we had to show our favourite trick. That’s when I did ‘middle’. I simply love sitting between Mum’s legs. I feel really safe there and get a cuddle. Apart from commando crawl it’s my thing – that and going under chairs, I like doing that too.
Mum says I’m doing much better, but it’s only because I like Emmenthal cheese so much.
