Waiting by the door
I spent yesterday waiting by the door. Mum went out for the day and left us with Dad. Oh he was in the garden and I could have been out there with him, but I wanted to make sure there was someone ready to welcome Mum the minute she came through the door. She went to a birthday party for my human cousin who is now two and said she really wished she could take me with her. I’ve been there before so it would have been all right by me, but there were going to be quite a few people so I might have found it a bit much. Besides, someone had to look after Dad and Aristotle.
Sunflower
Aristotle’s tallest sunflower is now over six feet tall. I think it’s still growing, but it’s now in flower too. The ones around it are starting to flower as well so he’s very pleased with them.

He did spend some time outside working with Dad in the garden yesterday. It meant he wasn’t ready to meet Mum when she finally came home, which I think is a very poor show for a dog. We should always be there to meet our human – always.
Mowing
The rest of the day yesterday was spent either mowing or painting and there’s still more to do today. Mum is hoping to get to the end of a round of mowing for the first time in more weeks than she can remember. Of course, with going away later this week it will be very long again by the next time she can do it. She says we’ve got to get it all short so it’s ready for the Club’s breeding test in a couple of weeks. I guess she’s going to have to work quite hard.
