Our Drains
You wouldn’t think so much time could be dominated by our drains. Sadly, at the moment it is the main topic of conversation in our house. The humans are working with the builders to work out which drains are connected to the drainage system and which ones don’t seem to go anywhere at all. We are waiting to hear when someone can bring a special camera and monitoring equipment to draw a map of them all. There has been a problem of a smell coming from under the hall floor since we moved in. Mum and I could smell it long before everyone else, but eventually it got so bad that Dad could smell it too. Now we are hoping that we are going to finally find out the cause and get it sorted out.
Gardening is dangerous
It turns out that gardening can be quite dangerous. Mum was up a ladder using the long arm to cut some branches off the top of the plum tree. I know what you’re thinking, that it was the ladder that was the problem – it wasn’t. Your second thought will be that the branch which came down and hit Mum was the problem – it wasn’t. What you won’t be expecting is that Mum had an allergic reaction to the branch and her lip all started swelling up. Mum was quite scared and ran inside to wash her lip and take another anti-histamine. Then opening the front door she hit dad on the head with it. She hadn’t realised he was just behind it putting his boots on.
You will be pleased to know that they are both all right but a little shaking by their respective experiences.
More wildlife
The whole wildlife things seems to be getting out of paw. Mum got some of the straw mulch out from under the tarpaulin which is keeping it dry, only to find something has chewed through the bags. Then the electrician said he’s seen mouse droppings in the loft. Finally, Mum went out to the shed only to find the robin has taken up residence inside. It’s the shed where Dad has overwintered some apples, so I think the robin is quite happy with his food source.
