Too successful
Mum’s plant rescue has proved too successful. The plants she saved from before the building work started have grown so much they are too big for the pots she wants to put them in. I don’t mean they are a little bit too big – they are a lot too big. Where they have been growing seems to have suited them perfectly. It almost seems a shame not to leave them there, but those are supposed to be the vegetable troughs.
Plan B is to dig up some of the smaller herbs that Mum grew from seed and move those to the pots instead. Then the big ones can replace those in the border where there’s more space. Mum is fed up as it all means a lot more work and she really wants to finish the job.
Mowing Day
Mum says today needs to be a mowing day. She has got out of her grass cutting routine, and the grass has taken advantage. To be honest, it’s taking liberties with the way it grows so much. The real problem is that Mum has ever so slightly broken part of the mower. There is a clip that keeps the lid of the grass box shut. It has fallen off.
Mum found this out when she started mowing and the grass came straight up and sprayed all over her. Dad and I thought it was hilarious when she came in covered in grass cuttings, but Mum didn’t see the funny side of it. She’s devised a way of keeping the grass box closed but says it’s a real faff when she comes to empty it. She hoped she might find the missing spring as she went around the garden, but there’s no sign of it. She’s asked if I could have a good sniff round as it really can’t have gone far.
