Wedding invite – Wednesday 25th September 2024

Wedding invite

Today, Mum has a wedding invite and I do not. I said I’d stay at home to supervise the builders. Mum pointed out that as one was more than a little wary of me, that might not go down too well. I have to go to kennels. It wouldn’t be so bad, but the mural of my mountain is arriving today and I want to be the first to see it. I guess I’ll just have to be patient, which is not something I find easy. As Mum hasn’t done any wallpapering for over thirty years, I think she’s asking the builders to put the mural on the wall for us. She seems to think there is a better chance of the pieces being the right way around than if it were her and me doing it.

Harvesting the squash

Yesterday, I helped Mum harvest the squash. There aren’t any as big as some of the ones we had last year, but then we didn’t plant so many. We have 56 this year. Aristotle managed over a hundred last year. I guess we need more practice. The carrots and parsnips are doing quite well and the potatoes were good, even if there weren’t as many of those either.

The apples are a different matter entirely. They seem to be everywhere. It’s the lovely time of year when I can pick and choose which ones I’d like to eat. Generally I start with the sweetest ones and then only move onto the others when my favourites run out.

Getting straight

What is exciting is that we are starting to put furniture back straight in some more rooms. By the weekend we should have the lounge and dining room back. It doesn’t mean the work is finished, but it is getting better. Next is the new porch. After that there’s just the two bedrooms upstairs and the drive. If I say it quickly it doesn’t sound too much.

Love
