How quickly you forget
How quickly you forget what happens when it rains all the time. We’re back to the regular question of ‘Has anyone been out of the village yet today?’ and ‘Which roads are open?’ Oh it’s not as dramatic as the flooding some of my friends have faced in Central Europe, this is just everyday flooding. If it’s anything like last winter then I probably mean every day too!
Given how heavy the rain was most of the day Mum asked me if I wanted to walk the loop around the village. “Mum,” I said, trying not to sound too negative. “One of us has waterproofs and one of us doesn’t.” Don’t get me wrong. I don’t mind a bit of rain, but yesterday wasn’t just a bit of rain. It’s also not so easy drying off when some of the heating isn’t working yet. Our garden room has underfloor heating, but at the moment it’s not connected to anything. Once it is, lying on the floor will be a much better way to dry off.
My mountain
You know how much Mum and I miss my mountain when we’re back in England. Well, Dad had a really good idea. He suggested we could turn it into a picture on our hall wall. Not just any picture, but a great bit mural picture. It’s a sort of wallpaper.
It needs a photo that is a big file and quite by chance Mum took one when she and I were there this time. The picture won’t come down to floor level as there is some furniture going against that wall, but it will be 2.8metres wide and 1.6metres high. I can’t wait. The rest of the hall is painted yellow, so it will hopefully look great. Mum and I are just going to sit in the hall and pretend we’re there.
