The final row – Friday 8th November 2024

The final row

After four long years Mum is on the final row of knitting her jumper. She still has to sew all the pieces together and then see if it looks wearable, but thanks to my friend Cookie sending the extra wool Mum needed, it looks as though Mum is finally going to finish the jumper. She’s already wondering what to knit next. I’m trying to encourage her not to go down that path. For one thing, given this one has taken four years, it could take a very long time to knit something else. For another, I can think of better things she can do with the time, especially if I’m going to be getting my puppy. I’m going to need Mum’s help with some of looking after Pebbles.

Thinking ahead

I’ve been talking to Mum about Pebbles and I’d forgotten how complicated being a puppy is. I suppose I didn’t have the early stages with Mum here in the UK. I was seventeen weeks old when I moved here. When Pebbles moves in she won’t have had all her vaccinations, so won’t be able to go out and about yet. I’d forgotten how short walks needed to be when I was really young too. Mum has a sling she can wear to carry Pebbles, but she says that she won’t do it at the same time as having me on lead. She wants to concentrate on one of us at a time, which I suppose makes sense.

Of course, the fact that I’ve become a bit antisocial is not much of a help. Mum is planning to take Pebbles to shops which are dog friendly and out for coffee. Obviously, Pebbles won’t be having coffee. A puppy on caffeine could be very hard work.

Meeting Pebbles

Anyway, we are going to visit the puppies on Sunday and I’m just crossing my paws that all does well. Mum says that I will be sitting in the car as the pups are still very young and it is not fair on their Mum to have strange dogs around. I do know their Mum, but I get the point. I’ll just have a good sniff of Mum when she comes out. I’m very excited.

Love
