Seeing dogs
Mum is seeing dogs. Yes, I know that sounds random, but she’s missing us and it has some odd results. Yesterday she went to an art museum. One picture was a charcoal outline of a range of mountains, or so it said. What Mum could actually see was the back of a large dog in the foreground and a smaller dog facing it beyond. There were sculptures too and she was sure that, despite what the labels said, some of those were of dogs too.
Dad takes a different approach when he’s missing us. He tends to befriend every live dog he meets, rather than seeing them where they don’t exist.
My question to Mum was ‘What happened to the plan?’
Hoppig
The plan hatched by Pebbles had been to send Mum off with Hoppig, so that she had a dog who looked like us with her. She could then take photos of Hoppig in all the places that we weren’t. So far, Hoppig has visited the vineyard of Mum’s favourite wine, the seafront, the art museum and a rather nice harbour. Unfortunately, so far Hoppig has also been camera shy – not a problem we have ever suffered from. He has remained in the car throughout and, thankfully, he is not affected by the temperatures. We, of course, would not be safe in the car and wouldn’t be overly happy walking on hot pavements either.

I’ve sent a message to Hoppig, via Mum, and suggested he bucks up his ideas and makes sure he has his photo taken. Holiday photos are so much more interesting when they have a dog in them. Even if that dog doesn’t have a wet nose and a wagging tail. Mum really does need to try harder when we can’t be with her.
