Walking with Cinders – Tuesday 26th November 2024

Walking with Cinders

I went walking with Cinders yesterday and we had such a lovely time. We went to a place called the Bathurst Estate near Cirencester. It was lovely. There is lovely parkland to walk around and a coffee shop for the humans. Actually, the coffee shop isn’t just for the humans – Cinders had a dog ice cream. Mum said if I didn’t spend my life eating everything I find then maybe I could have had one too. I pointed out that if I was bought ice creams at every opportunity then maybe I wouldn’t have to keep eating everything I could find. We reached a bit of an impasse.

Dogs are nicer than people

I came to the conclusion that on balance dogs are nicer than people. Cinders has arthritis in her paws. She wears boots as it keeps her feet much more comfortable. She was telling me how often humans make jokes about her boots or laugh at her. Why would they do that? It even happened in the short time we were together. I know Mum finds it difficult being one of the few people who still wear a mask for protection when we go out as she feels that people are staring and making comments, but witnessing how they were with Cinders really did make me think. Dogs accept you just as you are. We don’t mind what you wear, or what you look like. It’s the dog or person on the inside that we care about. Why oh why can’t humans be more understanding?

Do it again

Anyway, Cinders and I had such a lovely time that we’ve asked if our humans can do it again soon and maybe bring our dads too. Hopefully, as soon as Pebbles can join in we’ll arrange to meet up. Pebbles won’t be able to walk as far as we went today, but maybe she can be carried.

Love
