Back to my roots
Yesterday afternoon we went back to my roots. Not actually my own immediate roots, obviously that would be my sister Valeria’s house. I mean the roots of my breed. As you know, I’m an Entlebucher Mountain Dog. That is because my distant forbears were first found in the valley around Entlebuch. The region is a Unesco Biosphere and is one of the most beautiful areas you will ever find anywhere. The sun was shining and the sky was blue, which made the green of the hills really stand out.
We drove to some places where there were kennels in the early days. One that we went to was a place called Schärlig. That one is important to Mum. Alfie’s dad was a wonderful dog called Elio vom Schärlig.
We drove back a different way and had a fantastic view of some of the mountains. There is so much snow on them. They looked amazing.
My Morning Walk
My morning walk had been to my mountain. It was bright, but very cold. The most exciting thing was that my friend Megan came too. Megan will be 15 ½ next month, which is an amazing age. She can still enjoy good walks, which is wonderful. We were all so pleased to see her. Valeria was there too which was great.
I was doing much better around strangers, but I did still have a couple of good barks. I can’t quite stop myself yet, but I’ve promised Mum that I will keep trying.
Plan for today
Today I’m seeing my friend Ruff. That’s the good bit. The part I’m not looking forward to is that I’m meeting him in a city. I’m not really a city girl and will find it quite hard. Mum has reassured me that after how well I did walking around Bremgarten I really don’t need to be worried, so I’m hoping she’s right. She’s tightened my harness so it fits more snuggly in case I panic. On the bright side, the fact it needs tightening is because I’ve lost weight, so I’m quite pleased. I’ve asked Mum if I can weigh myself at the vet on Friday so I can see if I’ve lost weight on holiday.
Love
Wilma
