I’m in charge
Today I’m in charge, while Mum goes to visit Pebbles. She has promised that she won’t be out all day and that we can do some gardening together this afternoon. I should think so. She hasn’t finished the schedule I’ve got of what she needs to do before we go away. I don’t think she’s going to get it all finished, but she’s got further than I expected. All hedges are cut and now she just has to finish pruning some trees. That makes it sound easy, but they are quite big trees. I shall stay out of the way when she’s doing it.
The builders
Anyway, whilst Mum is out I have some important jobs to do. The builders will be fitting the doors to our new porch today, which is very exciting. We haven’t actually had a front door for the last few weeks, which has confused anyone calling. I don’t think we’ll have a doorbell until later in the week, but the door itself is a start.
The porch is so that Mum can answer the front door without me or Pebbles helping her. You would think she’d be more grateful. She seems to think we should stay in the house out of the way when she greets visitors. I cannot think where she’s picked up such a ridiculous notion. Mum has even suggested that she is going to train Pebbles to go to her bed when the front doorbell rings. Good luck with that one!
High ideals
It is very easy to start with high ideals when training a new puppy. It would be so much easier if there weren’t a more experienced dog to lead them astray. Mum has asked me to promise not to teach her bad habits. I don’t know which ones Mum regards as bad. They are all just habits to me.
Shadow’s picture
This is the picture of Shadow on the calendar that I mentioned yesterday. Now there was a dog who knew about bad habits! She taught me so much.
