Puppy Challenges – Tuesday 18th February 2025

Puppy challenges

Yesterday Mum was facing one or two puppy challenges. Twice she tried to set up mini-training sessions with Pebbles. On both occasions Pebbles did the puppy equivalent of a human putting their hands over their ears and saying ‘La la la, not listening’. On one occasion Pebbles became so focussed on a game of tug with her lead that she managed to tie herself in knots. Mum sighed and put the day down to experience.

Today it’s Pebbles second week in her training class and Mum isn’t expecting to see great strides of improvement. As she’s pointed out to Pebbles if she won’t practice she simply can’t expect to see results. Pebbles is not quite seventeen weeks old and doesn’t think that’s important.

Socialisation

At least Pebbles’ socialisation is still going well. She still loves everyone she meets and hasn’t shown too many hang-ups. Alfie never liked fluorescent jackets, but they certainly don’t bother Pebbles. There were three people from the council in bright yellow jackets when she was on her walk yesterday and she went straight over to introduce herself.

Her big day this week is tomorrow as I’m taking her to Kennels for a few hours to get used to the place. I’ve asked Mum if I’m not feeling great whether there might be a way of Pebbles staying at kennels on her own and me staying with Mum. Mum’s thinking about it. I was supposed to be looking after Pebbles and making sure she feels ok about things, but that’s not going entirely to plan. Besides that I don’t want to miss out on seeing my brother. At least I’ve said I’ll go on the journey with them and didn’t ask to stay at home with Dad. Although now I come to think about it, that might be quite a nice idea.

Love and woofs
