Al fresco dining – Monday 7th April 2025

Al Fresco Dining

Pebbles was offered the opportunity of al fresco dining yesterday. It was such a lovely day that Mum and I wanted to spend as much of it outside as possible. Pebbles went along with some of the plan. Eating outdoors is not so much her thing. She refused to eat a single mouthful until her bowl was relocated indoors. Now, let me look at this carefully. This is the dog who eats the grass, and if not stopped the stones. This is the dog who thinks fox poo is a treat. She will eat anything outdoors except her own food. Even I am struggling to understand how that works.

Extra training

Mum is booking extra training for Pebbles. In some aspects of her training Pebbles is an A1 student who is a long way ahead for her age. She will walk to a very close heal and turn with Mum, left and right – whatever is asked. She will weave through Mum’s legs. Sit, lie down, play tag – and a very long list of other things, but she absolutely will not come back when called. She doesn’t so much as turn her head. Dad asked if Mum thought she was deaf, but Mum thinks it is selective.

As a breed we can be strong willed and independent, but Pebbles takes it to a whole new level. For most of us, all you need to do is be there and we will be by your side. If we forget and you start to walk off, we’ll be there faster than you can say ‘lost dog’. Pebbles doesn’t even bother to wave Mum goodbye. She just carries on with what she was doing.

Quiet day

Today is a quiet day for me and pebbles. The builders are finishing the kitchen floor and the inside of the porch – or at least Mum hopes they are. Hopefully then we can get the house straight once and for all.

Love and woofs
