No meals!
Help – I’m being given no meals! A dog needs meals. I know I’m not food driven, but I do have to eat. Sadly, that seems to be the point. At puppy class yesterday I didn’t want any of the treats, so I didn’t bother doing any of the exercises. We sat out for a short while until I agreed to cooperate and then I did a little better in my stay and my recall because I was feeling so bad for Mum. I stopped feeling bad when she said I was not going to be given my meals anymore. What she is now doing is measuring out my usual food and then starting my training session. If I want to eat, I have to work. That is just not fair for a puppy. How can I have puppy fat when I don’t get any juicy extras?
Mum persuaded me to do a reasonable stay by offering me some of the chicken she was having for lunch. I was all set to find my treats were upgraded rather than withdrawn altogether.
If we don’t get through all my food training then I am allowed to eat the rest, but as it turned out I’d had most of it by then. This also means I am having at least three training sessions a day. Help!
A bit of a surprise
I did give myself a bit of a surprise yesterday. I’ve been going in the pond as you know. Until now, I’ve stood where the reeds are growing and found I can reach into the water while only getting wet up to my ankles. Yesterday I misjudged what I was doing and there I was, up to my neck and rather surprised. Don’t tell her, but I was actually quite pleased when Mum shouted fish as I was going to get out anyway and it meant I got a treat for my troubles.
I was dripping wet and a little shocked. Mum says she hopes it might have taught me a lesson, but I don’t suppose it has. She took me inside and rubbed me down with a towel and took my harness away to dry it. I’ve also been threatened with a bath, but the pond is quite clean so I’m hoping to get away without that.
