Sloth
Sloth is very important to Pebbles. Mum washed all of Pebbles’ bedding and included Sloth with it. When it came to Pebbles going to bed she was really unhappy. Mum got up and took her out to the toilet and thought that would be the end of the matter. Pebbles was still getting upset. That was when Mum realised that Sloth was still hanging up to dry. Mum got out of bed to fetch Sloth. Whilst Pebbles was delighted to be reunited with Sloth and didn’t let go of him for the rest of the night, she still wasn’t completely happy. By this time, it was gone midnight, I’d woken up and was too hot. So I started complaining too. Mum was getting pretty fed up.
All change
That’s when Pebbles explained that she just couldn’t stretch out properly in the crate she’s been sleeping in until now. She has grown too much and likes to sprawl when she sleeps. She didn’t have enough sprawling room. She asked Mum really nicely if she could sleep in the big bed and not in a crate. Mum said ‘no’ to that one, as there is no way Pebbles wouldn’t get up to mischief in the night.
Mum asked Pebbles if she’d like to sleep in her big crate that is in the utility. Still with Sloth in her mouth, Pebbles nodded. She was immediately happy and comfortable and went to sleep. I didn’t.
Mum got up again and came to see what was wrong. I said I was too hot. Then I had a thought. If Pebbles wasn’t sleeping with Mum then I could. I asked really nicely, but of course Mum was happy with the suggestion. She misses me as much as I miss her. With the cone on, I’ve been sleeping in my big crate in the office so that I don’t knock things over in the night, but I promised not to move around and Mum cleared some things away to make me comfortable.
It all took up too much of the night when we should have been sleeping, but in the end, everyone was happy – even Sloth.
