A bit of a scare – Tuesday 12th August 2025

A bit of a scare

I had a bit of a scare with my eye yesterday. There I was saying how well everything seemed to be going, but I spoke too soon. My face was hurting, so I gave it a good shake. Apparently that didn’t help and I started bleeding slightly from around my eye. Mum applied a cold compress to it but said that my face was really quite swollen and hot and she didn’t want to take any risks with the possibility of infection. Even though the specialist is thirty minutes from home, we were there to see the vet within forty minutes of Mum’s concern.

The vet

I have a five day course of antibiotics, but overall he said I didn’t need to worry too much and everything is looking good. He even checked my tear rate and it was sixteen. Anything over 15 is counted as normal and before the operation my right eye was actually zero. That made me feel very happy. It would be better if I avoided having a good shake, which is hard to remember. Mum is increasing my paracetamol to 3 a day, just for a couple of days. Hopefully by then it won’t hurt so much.

I’m booked in for a check up a week on Friday so hopefully I won’t need any more visits before that.

This heat

This heat is really a bit much for us. At least it was cloudy yesterday which definitely helped, but today is forecast to be very warm and sunny. Mum has warned me that Pebbles will be playing indoors, so if I have any sense I’ll stay well out of the way – that suits me just fine. I guess Pebbles will be fed up that she can’t be outside too – she really is much happier in the fresh air.

Love and licks
