Calm before the storm
It’s the calm before the storm here in more ways than one. Firstly, we’re all watching the weather forecast very carefully. Anything could happen. But then that could be said about a lot of things around here. Pebbles and I are not going to be here for Mum’s actual party. On my part that is by choice. Much as I love Mum, I do not love parties and would have found it all a bit much. On Pebbles’ part it is Mum’s choice. Pebbles would love the party. However, there are just too many things she could do to cause trouble and that wouldn’t be good.
Pebbles and I are going to kennels for a couple of days of peace and quiet. We will come back as soon as it’s all over and everyone has gone. However, there are one or two things ahead of that which will be complicated.
Taking down the pen
Mum has hired a small marquee. It will go up on the same spot in the garden where Pebbles’ pen is. It can’t go at the same time as the pen, so the pen has to come down. Mum also has to fill in the holes that Pebbles has dug in the grass and try to mow the whole area to be nice and even. She needs to do all that before the marquee comes on Friday and that means Pebbles not having the use of the pen for a couple of days. Either that means Pebbles has less time outside, or Mum will have to be outside even more to supervise her. Pebbles doesn’t have a good track record of making sensible decisions, so leaving her to her own devices is not the best approach.
Mum is hoping that she will be tired from dog training today and then tomorrow Mum is going to have to spend her day as dog entertainer. I could offer to help – but that would be going a paw too far.
