Rome wasn’t built in a day

The adage Rome wasn’t built in a day can definitely be applied to Pebbles’ behaviour. On Monday there was a serious risk of her being a normal one year old puppy. On Tuesday it was impossible for Mum to forget she was a puppy with issues – at least in the morning. It was just unfortunate that puppy training was in the morning. Pebbles simply was not in the mindset to concentrate on – well, anything really. If Mum tried to withhold treats or extend the gap between them, Pebbles began behaving as though she was on springs and simply jumping up to head height to grab Mum to remind Mum that she was there – not as though there was any chance of forgetting.

Off lead – well, that didn’t go well. Thankfully she only ran to play with her friend Maggie rather than disrupting the puppy class at the other end of the field. When it came to the final recall exercise, Mum knew when she was beaten and they opted out for safety.

All change

Then the weirdest thing, they came home and Pebbles reverted to being a lovely dog. She’s even taken to keeping my seat in the hall warm when I’m not using it. Mind you, one of us seems to have put our claw through the leather and I don’t think it was me. Fortunately, it is quite an old chair and it’s only in the hall because it doesn’t fit anywhere else. It would have gone to the tip otherwise, so Mum and Dad aren’t too cross.

Hydrotherapy

I had my hydrotherapy in the afternoon. It really does me good. Mum says as I don’t really want to go out walking then we ought to try to continue fitting in sessions weekly if at all possible. There are always weeks when there isn’t a convenient time for me, but it’s a good starting point to aim for. I wore my new lead extension yesterday which is yellow and says ‘I have dementia’. It’s an attempt at not getting other dogs coming to close to me as I really don’t like them in my space. So far it hasn’t worked. I guess not all dogs can read as well as others.
