Inside Toilets – Saturday 15th November 2025

Inside Toilets

Years ago, Alfie started a campaign for inside toilets for dogs. Now, in his case, he simply didn’t like getting his paws wet at all. However, in the light of the amount of rain we have had so far this month, I have come round to thinking he may have had the right idea. I did not want to go out yesterday. Not one bit. Mind you, Pebbles was as bad. Mum almost had to push us out of the door and we’d only go then if Mum came with us and was prepared to stand waiting for us.

So far we have had nearly three times as much rain as we’d normally get in the 30 days to today. On the bright side, the pond is now full, so it has recovered from the drought of the summer. It also means our underground stream which runs down the orchard is forming again. I may have to pick a different area to pee in, so I’m not up to my ankles in mud.

Action Stations

Mum wants all paws on deck tomorrow to help bed the garden down for the winter. The forecast says it should be a dry day, although muddy under paw. We need to bring the lemons in and wrap any plants that will suffer from the cold in little fleece jackets. I pointed out to Mum that there may be a flaw in her plan. She hasn’t thought about the Pebbles factor. I’m not one to scaremonger, but I can’t see any way that Pebbles is going to leave the fleeces on the plants. The most likely outcome is that she gets so excited about the little covers that both they and the plants fall prey to her enthusiasm.

Mum realised that I may be right. I think she is going to use the fleece for the plants on the front and look at other solutions for the plants in the back garden. At least the olives will be easy as they overwinter snuggled up in the shelter of the pergola. They did rather well last year, so paws crossed.
