Found Out

Pebbles has been found out. It was one of those things where I was torn. ‘Where does Pebbles keep disappearing to in the garden, Wilma?’ Should I tell on the puppy, or keep my own counsel? Given I was also enjoying some of the benefits I chose the former course. There is a hole in the hedge where some of the wildlife gets into the garden and where we can see what is going on in the field behind us. In Pebbles case, it is also where she can squeeze through the hedge. There is a wire fence behind the hedge, but I can see now from what Mum said, that if she had really wanted to, Pebbles could have got over that.

Making repairs

Anyway, yesterday Mum found the hole. It was pretty easy to spot if you looked as the ground was all smooth where Pebbles had wriggled through. Mum was quite stern with me as she explained the risks involved of Pebbles getting through. I felt quite sorry by the end of it and realised I should have told Mum before. Anyway, Mum went in search of repair materials and she and I set to work. Fortunately Mum keeps spare fence wire in stock. She also found half a dozen metal plant supports and some pegs. We managed to put in about fifteen meters of wire fence in front of the hedge, which will hopefully stop Pebbles. Mum says she will take it a little further if she can find some more posts. There’ll be something lying about somewhere that she can use – there always is.

The chances are that Pebbles will find an alternative location to get through, so Mum is talking about something more permanent in the long term. We have some other fences that need work so I think she will get someone in to do them all. There is only so much that she and I can do between us.

Love and licks
