Analysing Pebbles
Mum has been analysing Pebbles and some of the things she does. There are things that none of the rest of us have ever done. We all had soft toys when we were with Puppies and of course at times we had favourites. With Pebbles it is completely different. Pebbles has four. Sloth and Hoppig have been with her since day one. They are her best friends. Moose and Duck joined later but are an important part of her pack.
Every day when Pebbles goes outside she has to carry one of them. Moose and Duck only go out if she can’t find Sloth or Hoppig. She will carefully sort through everything in the corners of her crate until she finds the one she is looking for. Even though she is now 15 months old, her attachment to them is overwhelming. The interesting bit, and where Mum’s analysis comes in, is this is quite common with ADHD. It’s a coping mechanism as well as being very sweet.
Reading Books
Mum is reading some books on parenting a child with ADHD. I know Pebbles is a dog, but the behaviours and issues are broadly similar. Mum says she needs to learn to be Pebbles emotional support human. It’s a role which takes a lot of patience and understanding. Even though she’s a bit older, Pebbles’ behaviour can be very unpredictable and lead to some difficult situations. Mum has to be constantly alert for what might happen.
No electricity
Today is our day with no electricity. It’s due to go off by 9am. I’m not sure what the plans are for the day, but I suspect that cuddling up to avoid getting too cold might be high up on the list. It’s unfortunate that the forecast is for it to rain all day and not be as warm as it was yesterday. It’s times like this you realise how much you rely on electricity for pretty much everything.
