Grass cutting at last
We did some grass cutting at last. Yesterday was not only dry, but the wind meant the grass was drying quite well. Mum said, ‘Let’s make a start.’ I didn’t need telling twice. I went with her to get the mower out and made sure she got everything set up to the right length and then I went inside to watch through the window. Mum was as happy as anything. It isn’t just that the grass needed cutting, or even that she’s happy the weather was a bit better. She says she finds walking up and down behind the lawnmower very therapeutic. The great thing with that is that if Mum is happy then I’m happy.
Railway room
There has been progress in the railway room too. Most of the furniture is built. Dad’s desk may have the cabinets on the wrong way round so that when he’s sitting at his desk he can’t get to anything because the door is in the way, but that’s a minor detail. The shelves need to be fitted to the wall so they don’t fall on us. Other than that Mum is onto building some stands to hold paint brushes, which go on her desk. At least there won’t be any more nasty hammering for that. Once that’s all done we can start on the railway itself. My job will be to snooze peacefully while keeping an eye on progress.
The week ahead
The good news is that the weather forecast doesn’t look nearly so bad for the week ahead too. Mum has said that if all goes to plan we will have lots of time outdoors and really start to get the garden sorted. I do wonder if some of the time should go into cleaning the house, but I’m not going to be the one to mention that.
