Wilma is in hospital – Saturday 15th August 2026

Wilma is in hospital

Now Wilma is in hospital. It’s me, Pebbles again, and it’s all my fault. Mum says I couldn’t help getting ill which is nice of her, but I’ve given it to Wilma and she’s in hospital. They looked after me really well, so hopefully she will be ok too.

I’m doing reasonably well, although Mum says I still smell and is now threatening me with a bath. But it’s Wilma she’s really worried about. She was sick first, just like me. Mum rang the vet immediately and even though it was 2.30am they went to the vet to get a check up and an anti-sickness injection. Mum was really tired yesterday, but I hadn’t slept well either so was a bit quiet too.

Not eating

Wilma just didn’t want to eat or drink afterwards. Mum had brought her home and then got up and tried to give her breakfast. Even when Mum offered Wilma her tablets wrapped in ham, she didn’t want them.

Mum only started to get worried when by lunchtime Wilma still didn’t want to eat or drink. Although Mum had tempted her with a few pieces of chicken, but Wilma didn’t really want that either. Mum took her to the vet at 1.45pm and because she was dehydrated they said they would put her on a drip. They took blood tests too and found that while most things were looking ok, Wilma had low blood sugar. Apparently that can be a number of things, so they were going to be doing more tests to find out what was going on.

If Wilma is ok then we’re hoping her hospital stay with be short, but the vet needs to know what is happening with her glucose first. I think it’s quiet without Wilma but Mum says it’s much quieter when it’s me that isn’t here.
