Hi, honey, I’m home – Wednesday 9th September 2026

Hi, honey, I’m home

Hi, honey, I’m home – and it feels sooo good. Mum picked me up at 9.30 yesterday morning. I hurled myself at her, just in case she’d forgotten how much I love her. Then I spotted an opportunity. Mum’s treat pouch wasn’t closed and I spotted the bag of cheese. Whilst I had my paws wrapped around her waist, I stuck my nose into the pouch and pulled out the plastic bag of cheese. I’d shaken several pieces out all over the floor, before Mum regained control of the situation. At that point we hadn’t even got as far as the car.

It wasn’t a bad journey home, which was good as I really didn’t rate the book Mum was listening to. Absolutely not dogs anywhere.

Gardening

The best way for Mum and Dad to keep me and Wilma apart is to have me outdoors a lot. That suits me fine. Mum came out to do some gardening as soon as I got home. Then I did go in to join them for a while with Wilma going for a nap in her crate. Then yesterday afternoon Mum did some more gardening, followed by Dad doing a shift of apple clearing. I think they were both grateful the weather was fine.

Wilma’s sensor

Wilma had to go to the vet for her sensor to be changed yesterday. Unfortunately, the vet says her lymph nodes are even more enlarged than they were on Friday. Mum discussed with her the fact that Wilma is having some times of rapid shallow breathing, for quite long periods at a time. That is not a good sign. It’s not great that her blood sugar is bouncing around more, rather than being relatively level. The vet stressed that Mum should get in touch ahead of the weekend if she has concerns. We’re taking it a day at a time.
