My Walk Was Cancelled – Sunday 25th October 2026

My walk was cancelled

My walk was cancelled yesterday as the place we were going was closed following the storm. It was a real shame, but it was lovely to come home too. We had a very indoors sort of day as the weather was so bad outside. I don’t mind that too much on a day I’ve come back from kennels. Sometimes I can be a bit tired after all the running around I do.

The best bit was being at home to greet Dad when he arrived from his travels. Mum said she has never seen my tail wag so fast as it did while I was giving Dad a cuddle. Mind you, I then got overexcited and went slightly wild. Mum had to shut herself in a room while I calmed down. Then she gave me a rabbit ear, which helped as well.

The remaining behaviours

So here we go with the last few of my behavioural traits. I am apparently typical in my likelihood to howl to music. To be fair, as I can get over excited if Mum starts her kitchen karaoke, we tend to keep music more gentle when I’m around. Calm is good, but it does mean there is less worth howling to.

One piece of good news is that I’m significantly less likely to suffer from motion sickness. It’s interesting that that is genetic as Mum has always said she has never known one of our breed who does suffer in that way. I guess we have good genes for travelling. Mum had a Bearded Collie years ago and he had dreadful motion sickness apparently. Mum said he found travelling very hard.

I’m less likely to pant. That’s a weird one. How am I supposed to cool down? Maybe that’s why I don’t move about so much in hot weather. I also don’t have the ‘pointing’ gene, but that’s no surprise as that isn’t what my job would be.

Finally it is typical likelihood that I will sleep on my back. There was me thinking it was just about changing position to get comfortable and all the time I’m preprogrammed to do these things. It’s weird. But that’s what my DNA reports tell me.
