Holidaying with a puppy
Holidaying with a puppy you have to expect the unexpected. Pebbles spent yesterday being the unexpected. Whether she was teething, or growing, or whether it was hormones, Mum has no idea. However, yesterday Pebbles was just one big set of teeth. She really did warrant her ‘Bitey McBiteface’ nickname.
All week Mum has been looking forward to walking a little way along the Threlkeld to Keswick Old Railway path. It’s a lovely walk and one I really liked myself. We did the whole route, but the plan for Pebbles was just a small part of it. It was going fine, until Pebbles got over-excited and jumped up and nipped Mum’s arm. The walk back was much more challenging with Mum trying to get Pebbles to carry things to keep her mouth occupied.

Castlerigg Stones
After lunch the plan was a visit to the standing stones at Castlerigg. Again, I’ve been and quite liked it. They are near the road, so not much of a walk and there’s sheep poo in the field which is always a pleasure.
This week Pebbles has been growing. Mum thought she was taller, but it turns out she’s also thinner. In a mad moment, Pebble wriggled and backed out of her harness, right by the side of the road, before she even got to the stones. It turns out, Mum can still pick Pebbles up and had scooped her up into her arms to safety before any cars came along. Pebbles was unceremoniously put into her crate in the car and Mum sat with her while Dad went to see the stones. Then they went back to the guest house for Mum to adjust Pebbles’ harness. The problem is that with being thinner than when she set off last week, even on the smallest setting it is still a little loose.
Whinlatter Forest
The final visit of the day was to Whinlatter Forest. Mum attached Pebbles lead to both her harness and her collar for safety. It was a nice walk, but to be honest I think Mum had had enough of the day by then and just wanted to put her feet up.
On the bright side, both Dad and Mum have missed me and say how much easier I am than Pebbles. Maybe next year I’ll feel up to going and can show Pebbles how things should be done.
Love and woofs
