What a surprise – Wednesday 20th August 2025

What a surprise

What a surprise both Mum and the trainer had at dog training yesterday. Pebbles tried really hard for the first forty minutes of the lesson. Ok, so Mum couldn’t take her off lead for her stay or for her recall and Pebbles did bark more than all the other dogs put together, but she also worked with Mum for much of the lesson. The treats might have helped, but she looked at Mum when she was supposed to, did her exercises the first time of asking and until her concentration went completely she was a very good dog.

Taking the win

Mum didn’t push her luck and try to make Pebbles keep working once she’d had enough. She decided it was far better for it to be a positive experience for them both than to end up getting fed up with each other. Mum hadn’t used all the treats either. Ok, she got through the whole bag of pate, half the cheese and half the chicken, but she was prepared for that.

On top of everything else, Pebbles was really pleased to see some of her friends. Dexter wasn’t there but Ernie, a smallish terrier, was delighted to see her. Pebbles and he rolled around together as much as being on lead allowed.

Cone removal countdown

I’m on a cone removal countdown. Hopefully it will only be two more days until it comes off. I think everything has healed ok, so I just need to see if my tear rate is better. I’m just glad that we’ve said it will be at least a couple of months before I have the other eye done. If I could face the idea of three lots of eye drops three times a day forever, then I don’t think I’d be bothering at all. Paws crossed,

Love and licks
