Panic over
It’s all ok, panic over. I should have known Mum would be far too lazy to clear up all the apples. She did have me worried, but it turned out that it’s a much bigger job than I’d realised. Now I’m waiting to be picked up for my journey home. Then I can start the serious job of eating as many apples as possible before Mum gets rid of the rest. What is annoying is that Mum spent time clearing eating apples. She could have focussed on the cooking apples that aren’t so sweet, but I guess I’ll just have to make do with the best of the ones I can find. If I’m lucky I’ll be able to divert Mum onto the rest of the hedge cutting to buy time.
Focus on sleep
Mum has spoken to both Pebbles and me about what time we get up. Unlike us, Mum doesn’t nap throughout the day. Actually, more to the point, unlike Pebbles, Mum actually needs to get some sleep. Mum has explained that there is no reason for our days to start before 7am. She doesn’t want to hear a murmur out of either of us before that. I only start to make a noise when my tummy starts to rumble. I’ve asked for an extra Bonio ration to prevent that happening, but Mum said no.
Pebbles gets bored
Pebbles just gets bored. She doesn’t seem to need much sleep and so is awake at all sorts of times and wanting something to do. Once or twice she’s pulled the wool over Mum’s eyes and pretended to need the toilet – she didn’t. Quite honestly, at 3am I can see why Mum was annoyed.
I wonder if Pebbles will change at all as she gets older. She’ll be heading into teenage soon, which probably won’t be much fun for any of us. Maybe after that she will be more reasonable. I can dream!
