The Turkey

Collecting the turkey didn’t go quite as planned. Mum had not read her instructions properly. We arrived at the turkey farm and the gate was closed. There were already two cars waiting so Mum joined the queue. We sat there for about ten minutes before she picked up her booking paper, only to find it wouldn’t open for another hour. It was a good job the farm is only four miles from home really, otherwise it would have been quite annoying. We came home and Mum got on with other chores. I said I didn’t need to go back with her. I’d done the other errands, including finding my worming tablet wasn’t ready to pick up – which I thought was good news.

A calm day

I’m planning a calm day today, before all the excitement starts. Mum says that as long as it doesn’t rain we can make it an outdoor day. She needs to go to buy some vegetables but apart from that she wants a calm day too. I tend to find vegetables are fairly calm, but Mum says it’s the shop that might not be.

It would be the day for the celebrations to begin if I were in my homeland of Switzerland. It’s funny how traditions differ between countries. I like the fact that we’re all different and can learn from each other.

Should I retire

I’ve been thinking about Dad retiring and wondering if it’s time for me to retire too. In human years I’m already over 70, so probably shouldn’t still be working. I know Alfie carried on until he was much older than me, but he did take some days off by getting me and Aristotle to write on some days. The problem is that Pebbles doesn’t sit still for long enough to write anything down. She prefers to be constantly moving, which is a problem in more ways than one. I’ll talk to Mum about it and see what she says.

Love and licks
