Puppy clothing
When I talk about puppy clothing, I don’t mean clothing worn by a puppy. I’m talking about clothing worn by a human when they have a puppy. Mum has decided that Pebbles is now old enough to be expected not to wreck all of Mum’s clothes. Of course, I think that’s an optimistic point of view. However, Mum is determined to stop going out wearing clothes with holes in. Other, of course, than the ones which are supposed to be there.
Mum doesn’t like throwing things away, especially her favourite comfortable clothing. She is faced with the end of her favourite sweatshirt and she’s not taking it well.
Donor Sweatshirt
Instead of putting the favourite sweatshirt in the bin, Mum has designated it as a ‘donor sweatshirt’. Before it breathed its last, it was able to sign up to the clothing organ donation programme. It agreed that any part of it’s body could be used to save other clothing
So far, it has donated a large pocket to a sweatshirt which was born without pockets. Ok, so it’s a different colour and the sewing needle broke part way through, but it does make it more useful.
The donor sweatshirt has also donated the cuffs of the sleeves to provide a cuff transplant to a sweatshirt which quite honestly was only one breath away from being read the last rites itself.
Rather alarmingly, Mum is now looking at her other items of clothing and wondering what else she can rescue. This will involve them being patched not only in a different colour, but a different material. More a feature than a hidden repair!
By the time she’s finished, none of us will be willing to go out with her. She’s rather proud of the patched results. I suspect Dad might have a slightly different view.
