Step counter – Tuesday 21st May 2024

Step counter

I want a step counter. Mum clocked up over 17,000 steps yesterday and many of them were mowing the grass. I spent a lot of time outside helping and want to know how many steps I did. Some of the time I was directing activities from a shady spot, but I must have done quite a lot. Besides, with four feet instead of two I must do twice as many.

There’s only a month until some of my friends are coming here to celebrate the Club’s 15th birthday, so Mum wants to get the garden into shape before that. I pointed out that we’re dogs and are as happy in an unmown field as we are in a neat garden. She said that wasn’t the point, which confused me a little.

More builders

I’ve been warned that we might have more builders around from tomorrow. Apparently they’ve finished another job and are going to move everyone onto ours to try to get it finished. Staying out of the way is working well for me, so I don’t plan to change my approach. Poor old dad was late going for a shower yesterday and found the plumber had already turned the hot water off, so Dad was faced with a cold shower.

At least it feels as though things are being finished and looking less of a mess than they did. Mum said that I won’t be saying that when they start on the other inside work. At least by then I’m hoping I’ll have had my back operation and be able to start going out more. That’s only three weeks away now and I’m starting to feel a little anxious.

Mum is going to try to make the cushion she has planned so that she can sit with me while I recover. It’s going to mean getting the sewing machine out. I hope she can find somewhere to put it. More importantly, I hope this doesn’t turn out to be like the jumper she’s knitting.

Love

Wilma
