Paint cut repeat – Saturday 3rd August 2024

Paint cut repeat

Today could be best summed up as paint cut repeat. Mum has several things that need painting and lots of grass which needs cutting. It’s a battery powered mower and although Mum has two sets of batteries for it, they take a while to charge. She’s worked out that that’s a good thing as the last mower overheated from being overused. If she gives it time between cuts it stops the mower going on strike. So, between each mow today, something will get painted. I’m not planning to be one of the things that’s painted. I’m watching from a safe distance. The first candidate was supposed to be the gates on the end of the drive, but someone drove into them yesterday so I’m not sure if that has to wait until they’re repaired.

Herbs

I didn’t do quite so well splitting and planting the herbs with Mum as I thought. One of the splits of rosemary is definitely not looking so good. Mum thinks we’re going to have to replace it and replant the pot. I’m starting to understand why Ari was sad when things didn’t work as planned. On the bright side, the squash are growing so fast that we’re going to be able to start eating them in a week or two. We kept going from September to May last year, now if we can start in August and keep going that will be even better.

I’m going to have a go at sowing a second batch of carrots before it’s too late too. Mum says I can do that while she’s painting. I was going to plant more potatoes but I forgot to get them started. Now if I start them it will be too late to plant them. Mum did get me a second lot but I left them too long and didn’t get round to planting them. I think I need to keep a diary.

Love

Wilma
