The weekend so far – Sunday 26th May 2024

The weekend so far

The weekend so far can perhaps best be summed up in pictures. There has been some curling up on the settee. I’ve got the hang of the ramp that Mum bought for me. To be fair, she has got the hang of keeping it firmly in place so that I can be confident in using it.

There has been a lot of gardening so far. Mum caught me happily surveying my little corner of England. I was enjoying sitting in the shade of one of the apple trees just watching the world go by. Mum had been cutting the grass and actually managed to get to the end of the whole garden before the whole week was up.

Important progress

We did make some important progress. Mum has planted all the rest of the vegetable seeds that she plans to put in. She is sticking to her main crops of squash, potatoes, parsnips and carrots this year with just a few tomatoes. With everything going on, she said it wasn’t the year to branch out. Some of the potatoes do still need to go in, but we have made room for them.

Dad was tasked with cutting out some dead wood from the plants. I guess I take part of the blame as I wasn’t there to supervise him. He looked quite sheepish when he wheeled a trolley along with lots of flowers on the end of the stems. Apparently it had looked dead at the bottom. Well, if it wasn’t before, it is now!

As long as the weather stays ok, we’ll be out doing more of the same today – although we’re hoping Dad will leave the plants that are growing where they were! Mum is on weeding and cutting edges. I’m going to be sitting under the apple tree surveying my little world.

Love
