Not bad news

Yesterday was not bad news. It wasn’t completely good news, but it was a lot better than we were expecting. My lovely consultant could find no signs to suggest the operation hasn’t been a success. He gave me a full examination and said whilst there was some sign of pain it was more about the different position my back was now in and me needing to get used to it. It could still be sore for a while. The end of my spine is now more curved than it was and that may be putting a little more pressure on the neighbouring joints.

Plan for the next month

The plan for the next month is for me to stay on pain killers. I’m now allowed to be off lead at home and don’t have to be in my crate. I can go for longer walks, but they have to be on lead and I’m not yet allowed to play with other dogs. It’s a big improvement on the last couple of months, so whilst it isn’t ideal, I’m not complaining.

I asked if hydrotherapy would be good for me, but apparently at the moment that would not be a good idea. There was me thinking it was good for most things. I just need lots and lots of gentle on lead walking.

How I celebrate

I celebrated as I always like to. I headed straight to the orchard for an apple… or two. Mum has said that’s not a good idea as I don’t want to put weight on again. Of course, I corrected her and said she didn’t want me to put weight on again. As long as we can go for longer walks it should be fine and besides, I did miss out on breakfast.

Anyway, if things go to plan, by the time I go to see my sisters I should be able to have some off lead time with them, which would be wonderful.

Love

Wilma
