Lake and town
Yesterday was a lake and town sort of a day. First of all Valeria took me for a walk near her lake, which is Sihlsee. The weather was bright even though it was a little cooler. It’s a beautiful lake, but unlike many of the ones here it is manmade and has only been here since the 1930s.
One section of the walk was along the road, which I wasn’t as keen on. I had to be careful though as there was an electric fence by the side and I didn’t want to end up coming into contact with that either.
Our humans went for coffee in Einsiedeln after the walk and I took the opportunity for a bit of a nap.
Bremgarten
After that we went to a very old town called Bremgarten. I presumed I was staying in the car, but Mum said it was a good opportunity for me to start some of my rehabilitation. I couldn’t really argue as I do know I need it.
Mum put me on what we call ‘city setting’ on my lead. One end of my lead is attached to my harness and one to my collar. Then if I do panic and try to back out of my harness I still can’t go anywhere. We walked all through the town with me walking closely to heel. When there were distractions I’ve been reacting to Mum made me sit and focus on her and ignore whatever it was going past me. We did that with groups of children on scooters, other dogs, traffic… oh all sorts. We also spent time waiting for Dad when I had to sit patiently and just focus on Mum. I did really well and only had a couple of minor barks.
Tired out
We worked on training exercises for about an hour. I’d had enough by then and Mum said we should stop whilst I was still enjoying it and hadn’t got too frustrated. We moved the car to an underground car park so I could have a sleep while Mum and Dad went to get a coffee.
All in all, it was quite a day.
