My apple pile – Tuesday 8th October 2024

My apple pile

This is my apple pile at the moment. Mum took the photo after I’d finished munching, so there aren’t as many as I have there most of the time. I know the rotten one doesn’t look as appetising to you, but from a dog point of view it’s perfectly edible. I do check to make sure there are no nasty insects in it before I start, but rolling it around a bit usually does the trick. I have to pile them up so that I’ve got some ready when Mum starts raking up the others. As long as I have enough until the next ones fall off the tree then I’m happy.

Dad’s supposed to rake up the apples, but he doesn’t get round to it very often. I see that as a good thing. Mum sees it differently as the fallen apples get in the way of her cutting the grass.

Warm and sunny

Yesterday was warm and sunny so being outdoors was great. Mum managed to keep up with her quota of cutting the hedge and the grass and I cheered her on. Today’s forecast is not so good so I’ve suggested she works outside on her own for a while. I’ll watch her from the window to make sure she’s ok, but I don’t need to get wet. Quite apart from anything else I think she’s working on cutting some big branches on a tree, so I’ll be safer indoors. To be fair, she’d probably be safer indoors too, but there’s no sense in me pointing that out – she won’t listen.

Sad news

We received some sad news yesterday. One of Shadow’s daughters – Beija from her second litter, died last month. Beija was part of the litter which were on internet television 24 hours a day when they were born. She would have been twelve in November.
