Taking the win

Mum is taking the win. Pebbles was far from perfect at her training class yesterday, but she wasn’t as naughty as last week. Some things she did really well – others, not so much. On the bright side she was doing ok at sitting and waiting when asked. She went through a gate politely and took food nicely. On the downside she absolutely took no notice whatsoever when Mum was trying to get her to walk on a loose lead and wasn’t interested in the toys that were available to play with. What Pebbles really wanted to do was to play with the other dogs. Mum says they’re a lovely crowd and all get on really well. Pebbles would love some time off lead to play with them.

Then there was the salmon

Now, Mum, bless her, is trying very hard to find treats which are high value enough for Pebbles to be interested in them. The trainer had some salmon pate pieces which worked a dream – or at least they would have done, but for the fact that from then on Pebbles was focussed solely on the trainer who had a container full of them and not on Mum. Needless to say, Mum has now bought some and will be offering it to Pebbles on select occasions. For regular everyday work Pebbles is going to have to work her way through all the other treats in the house. It’s going to take a while.

On the bright side

On the bright side, Pebbles is doing very well on the socialisation front. And, whilst she is still rather prone to jumping all over people, she still loves everyone. Thankfully, she hasn’t had any bad experiences yet and Mum is grateful for that.

Today might not be quite so much fun for Pebbles as she’s off to the vet for her rabies vaccination. Of course, she doesn’t need to have it for this country, but as she wants to travel abroad it is all part of what she needs to do. Mum will weigh her while they are there too. We’re guessing she may have passed the 15kg mark – let’s see!
