Some Relief – Saturday 29th March 2025

Some relief

Today I am feeling some relief. I’ve been telling you all about how Pebbles is doing and trying not to focus on my own problems. My eyes were just getting worse. Mum asked me to hang in there until my appointment in two weeks, when I will have a follow up blood test and we’ll see if there has been improvement. I did try. Then on Thursday I just couldn’t cope any longer. I was feeling really miserable and walking into the green waste bin was the last straw. Finally I sat down with Mum and said I just couldn’t go on like that and wanted to go back to the vet. When Dad came home from a couple of days away I was so down I didn’t even throw myself at him.

Vet check

So first thing yesterday Mum rang the vet and took me for an early appointment. Our vets are lovely. He checked my tear rate and instead of improving as it was supposed to do it had dropped even further. Mum thinks I may have been reacting against one of the ingredients in the ointment. Anyway, he has moved me back onto the steroid ointment I was on previously to give me some relief over the next couple of weeks until my blood test. Mum put some ointment in as soon as we got home and the difference was almost immediate.

I can actually open my eyes properly for the first time in a couple of weeks. Obviously this hasn’t fixed the problem, but it does at least give me some respite from the symptoms and I’m very grateful for that.

Moving into my room

Pebbles has moved into the other crate in my room. She loves it. She says it’s much better then she thought it was going to be. I’ve promised Mum I won’t tell her how to dismantle the crate and for the time being at least she isn’t trying to find out. My worries on her moving in have reduced too. I thought she’d cry and disturb my peace and quiet, but that hasn’t happened – at least not so far!

Love and woofs
