Learning from Magpies

Pebbles has been learning from magpies. When Mum opened the back door yesterday, Pebbles ran out – a dog on a mission. Mum presumed she needed the toilet, so followed behind at a leisurely pace. Pebbles did not need the toilet. She had run straight to the greenhouse. Rather than wait to see what bits of peanuts were dropped by the thieving magpies, she has decided to take matters into her own paws. She was helping herself to the peanuts, still in the shells and eating the whole thing. Mum thinks it’s her own fault for giving Pebbles peanut butter, but quite honestly, she’s one of those dogs that’s going to experiment whatever you do.

Mum is now torn between closing the door to stop Pebbles getting in or leaving it open so the magpie can get out. The magpie doesn’t limit itself to going in through the door and uses the windows when they are full open. As the windows close as the greenhouse cools that can mean it gets stuck.

Mum has decided the best thing is to speed up her greenhouse clear out!

Best walk ever

Pebbles declared her walk at Oakley Woods to be her best walk ever. She couldn’t believe just how much there was to sniff. Mum said she took ages to walk a little way along the path, but Mum didn’t mind. One thing that disappointed Pebbles was that she met a number of dogs and none of them really wanted to play with her. Some of them ignored her completely. She really does need to find some local friends to have play dates with. I’ve suggested to Mum that she could appeal in the village for some friends for Pebbles, but Mum thinks it would be better for them to meet naturally.
